Since 2012, through a contract with the federal government's Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Comprehensive contracts with health service providers, coordinates and pays for services in emergency rooms, hospitals, specialists, ancillary studies and imaging diagnosis, among other health services in the community, required by inmates detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), in Guaynabo.

The Metropolitan Detention Center is an Intake Center for male and female detainees, awaiting trial and sentencing (summary) by the Federal Prison System, a Division of the United States Department of Justice.
