Comprehensive Human Services Corp. (CHS) is a private, nonprofit organization, tax-exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code. Its central offices are located in Metro Office Park, Lote 18, Suite 200 Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
CHS promotes the development of administrative and clinical models to provide efficient and cost-effective health services to manage the needs of the populations to be impacted. The models and services implemented incorporate the most recent administrative and care standards, as well as the best professional practices in the health industry.
The effort, extensive knowledge, experience and capacity of our leaders and work team , has made it possible to achieve, in recent years, the following goals and objectives and, simultaneously, has managed to reduce expenses for the services offered. In short, we have done much more with less. Here are some of our achievements:
• Plan, implement and provide servicescomprehensive physical, mental and dental medicine, of various levels and scopes (ambulatory, skilled nursing care, extended care, for management of mental and addictive disorders, hospital, emergency, urgent and telemedicine care, among others), in multiple locations, complying with the requirements of accrediting agencies and the most recent practices in the health industry.
• Administration and supervisionof 8 emergency rooms. CHS has guaranteed and promoted access to emergency services, establishing continuous monitoring of access patterns and service availability, over 21,895 visits are attended annually.
• Planning and implementation of models and integrated interdisciplinary services for the management of prevalent medical conditions in the population such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, epilepsy, hyperlipidemia and HIV, among other conditions. In the area of mental health we have developed and implemented models for the management of anxiety and depression, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, anxiety as part of addictive disorders, bipolarity, management of withdrawal syndrome (withdrawal) and the control of violent behavior, among others. In addition, we have developed aggressive prevention and treatment programs for prevalent oral health conditions.
• The planning and implementation of an effective infection prevention and control program to manage the identification and the medical management of infectious conditions such as chickenpox, tuberculosis and HIV, among others, in 48 locations throughout the island and an average population of 10,800 lives.
• Development of comprehensive planning programs discharge for continuity of health services and treatment as prescribed.
• Development of health education programs, with special emphasis on prevention of contagious infectious conditions and the proper management of patients with existing chronic health conditions.
• Establishment of a continuous quality improvement program and compliance with the requirements of accrediting agencies outpatient, emergency and urgent, hospital and residential physical medicine, mental health and dental services provided.
• Improve user satisfaction, reduce complaints and legal disputes related to the provision of the services provided.
• Maximization of available fiscal and human resources, while significantly improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the service delivery systems of health. Over the past several years, CHS has managed an average annual budget of $78 million and directed the provision of care for 993 employees and 537 contracted health service providers (independent contractors).
• Protection of rights of the patients who are treated.
We have been successfully subjected to periodic audits, inspections, and evaluations by accrediting agencies, government agencies, the Office of the Comptroller, the Office of the Governor, and the Legislature.
