Development and implementation of the Telepsychiatry service in the Correctional Health System (2005)

Due to the difficulty in recruiting psychiatrists, mainly outside the metropolitan area, the correctional health system did not have enough psychiatrists to meet the demand for services. In 2005, CHS began offering psychiatric services to inmates through the Teleconferencing service.

Achievement:

With this project, it was possible to improve access to psychiatric services for inmates in institutions that did not have them. As of 2019, almost 50% of the population received Telepsychiatry services.
